The White Horse Project was pleased to receive a £250 donation at the opening of the new Jacks store in Rawtenstall.

The money will be used to help buy important equipment for our Duke of Edinburgh expeditions later this summer.

This is the first year we have delivered the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. The first cohort have been working hard towards achieving their Bronze level award. The group have been preparing for the expedition segment of the award for several months which requires them to complete a two day hike and overnight camp, un-supported. The donation from Jack’s has allowed us to purchase GPS tracking equipment and emergency phone to ensure we can keep track of the group as they tackle the expedition and have a suitable means of communication with the group in case of emergency.

The group will tackle the expedition in June. Fingers crossed for good weather!
