Volume 2 – March 2021

On Air

The White Horse Project was live on the radio in December showcasing some of our musical talent. We were invited to be a part of Chapel FM’s ‘Musicathon’ event which was a 24 hour live music broadcast.

Thomas Wise, one of our Young Volunteers and Dave Jackson our Music Session Leader represented WHP in the event, both contributing to the live broadcast. Thomas played the piano with renditions of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and the Christmas hit ‘Fairytale of New York’. Thomas said ‘it was a really good experience for him’. Thanks to Chapel FM for involving us in this great event and for the unique opportunity it gave to one of our young volunteers.

Music has always played a prominent part in our work either through music tuition provision or showcase events such as The Talent and The Fest to name a few. Throughout the past year we have maintained the deliver of music tuition over Zoom. Dave Jackson is currently teaching 6 young people on a weekly basis in piano, guitar and drums as well as music theory. The group includes GCSE/A-Level music students looking to improve their academic studies, to young people who play an instrument for ‘fun’. Availability of music tuition is limited, but if you know of a young person looking to learn or develop their musical skills please contact us for more information.

Free Art Packs for Young People

Who wouldn’t want a free art pack? Thanks to funding from IGEN Trust we have been able to put these great art packs together and have been busy delivering them to young people around Rossendale.

We hope that the packs will enable more young people to join our Zoom Art Workshops and encourage young people to be more creative in their spare time. So far the packs have been a great success with seven new young people joining the art workshops.

The art workshops are every Wednesday, 5:30 – 6:30pm. For more information or to request a free art pack please contact us.

Quiz Time

The Friday night quiz was a popular activity at Deepen so we thought, why stop? The quiz is hosted on a Friday evening 7-8pm on Zoom (contact us for the link), and is a fun way to end the week.

I love the quiz, it is the highlight of my week and I am so happy there is something
fun to do in lockdown.

Not only is the quiz great fun but prizes are awarded each month.
